Men’s Track & Field Places 22nd At New England Championship
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:19.56, as the Holy Cross men's track and field team finished 22nd out of 37 schools in the New England Championship at Jess Dow Field. The Crusaders ended the meet with a total of eight points, while Southern Connecticut State won the competition with 110 points.
The Holy Cross 4x800-meter relay team captured an eighth-place finish with a time of 7:49.80, while the Crusaders' 4x400-meter relay team came in 16th in a time of 3:26.05.
In other individual events, junior Chase Bradford (West Bridgewater, Mass.) placed eighth in the javelin with a throw of 58.02 meters, senior Chris Bergan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) came in 13th in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:16.11, and senior Brendan Medeiros (Fall River, Mass.) was 17th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:58.25. Junior Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.) earned an 18th place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 13.16 meters, while senior Alex Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) was 21st in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.66.
The 2010-2011 season is now complete for Holy Cross.
