Men’s Track & Field Hosts Home Meet
WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) took first and qualified for the New England Championship in the steeple chase as the Holy Cross men's track and field team hosted a home meet with Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Worcester State. Rhode Island won the team competition with 217 points, while the Crusaders finished third with 136 points.
Altenau finished first in the steeple chase with a time of 9:29.08. Senior Alex Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) placed sixth in the 400 hurdles with a New England Championship qualifying time of 56.17 seconds. Freshman Ross Davies (Salem, N.H.) placed second in the 100 with a time of 11.22 seconds and fifth in the 200 with a time of 22.65 seconds. Senior Chris Bergan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) placed second in the 5,000 with a time of 15:34.69, junior Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.) claimed third in the triple jump with a distance of 13.30 meters and junior Stephen Madsen (New Providence, N.J.) finished third in the 800 with a time of 1:55.80. Freshman Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) placed seventh in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.84 seconds, missing New England Qualifying time by .10 seconds and senior Kenneth McKenna (Ossining, N.Y.) placed fourth in the discus with a distance of 43.01 meters.
Holy Cross will continue action at the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday, May 1 starting at 9:30 a.m.
