Crusaders Set For IC4A Indoor Championship

  • The Crusaders will wrap up their indoor season at the IC4A Indoor Championship in Boston, Mass., March 5-6 at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center.
  • Last year at the 2010 IC4A Indoor Championship, former Crusader Timothy Richard competed for the Crusaders in the 5,000. This year, junior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.), and senior Brendan Medeiros (Fall River, Mass.), will be running individual events for the Crusaders. Altenau will compete in the 3,000, while Medeiros will compete in the 1,000. Holy Cross has also entered a 4x800 relay team consisting of junior Stephen Madsen (New Providence, N.J.), sophomore Nick Poles (Quincy, Mass.), freshman Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.), and freshman Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.).
  • Last weekend at the New England Championship, Holy Cross finished 24th overall, while Connecticut won the team competition with 119.50 points. The Crusaders were led by Medeiros, who finished second in the 1,000. Medeiros ran a personal-best time of 2:31.77 in the prelim round of the 1,000 and then re-set his personal-best during finals running a time of 2:27.19. Freshman Andrew Zitnik (Warren, Ohio) placed ninth in the 200 with a time of 22.41 seconds, running a personal-best time of 22.40 seconds in the prelim round. Senior Chris Bergan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) also ran a personal-best time in the in the 3,000, finishing 14th with a time of 8:41.05.
