WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior captain Chris Bergan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) has earned one of 10 spots on the inaugural men's indoor track and field Academic All-Patriot League team, as voted on by the Patriot League's track and field sports information directors. To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. The Academic All-Patriot League team was added for all sports beginning in the 2010-2011 season to honor additional student-athletes who excel both on and off the field.
Bergan, a Political Science and Spanish double major, has a cumulative grade point average of 3.62. He was named to the cross country Academic All-Patriot League team this fall. Bergan has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll three times for track and field and four times for cross country.
At the 2011 Patriot League Indoor Championship, Bergan finished 17th in the 3,000 with a time of 9:02.70. During the 2011 indoor season, he recorded a personal-best time of 8:48.12 in the 3,000 at Maine and hit a personal-best mark of 4:32.61 in the one mile at New Hampshire.
