Crusaders Ready For Patriot League Championship

  • The Holy Cross men's track and field team will travel to Annapolis, Md., to compete at the Patriot League Championship hosted by Navy this weekend. Competition will occur at the Wesley A. Brown Field House in Annapolis, Md.
  • At the 2010 Patriot League Championship, senior Brendan Medeiros (Fall River, Mass.) led the Crusaders with a 12th place finish in the one mile run. In the shot put competition, senior Kenneth McKenna (Ossining, N.Y.) placed 12th with a distance of 12.42 meters.
  • Junior Chandler Fenner (Virginia Beach, Va.) and junior Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.) tie for the ninth place rank on the Patriot League performance list, both jumping a distance of 3.89 meters in the triple jump. Fenner also ranks 13th in the 60 meter dash and 15th in the long jump. Freshman Andrew Zitnik (Warren, Ohio) ranks ninth in the 60 meter dash, with a time of 7.09 seconds and 12th in the 200 with a time of 22.53 seconds. Medeiros leads the Crusaders in the distance events, ranking 15th in the 1,000 and 19th in the one mile.
  • Last weekend at the Valentine Invitational, Fenner's fourth place finish in the triple jump qualified him for the New England Championship. Zitnik also qualified for the meet in the 200, running a time of 22.53 seconds. Freshman Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) qualified in the 800 with a time of 4:55.87, while Medeiros qualified in the 1,000 with a time of 2:29.52.
