- The Holy Cross men's track and field team returns to hits the road this weekend to compete at the Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Saturday, Feb. 12. Competition will occur at the Track and Tennis Athletic Center in Boston starting at 9:00 a.m.
- A year ago at the Valentine Invitational, senior Brendan Medeiros (Fall River, Mass.) led the Crusaders, taking 38th in the 1,000, and recording a team-best and season-best time of 2:33.15. Sophomore Kyle Shepard (White Plains, N.Y.) followed in the same event, with a personal-best time of 2:35.47, good enough for a 55th placement. In the field, sophomore Michael Millard (Manhasset, N.Y.) posted a 21st place finish in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.89 meters.
- At Maine last weekend, Medeiros led the men's team with two first place finishes. In the one mile, Medeiros claimed first with a New England Championship qualifying time of 4:15.46 and in the 800, Medeiros finished first with a time of 1:56.92. Freshman Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) finished first in the 400 with a time of 51.75 seconds. The 4x400 relay team of junior Stephen Madsen (New Providence, N.J.), McGrath, junior Conor Moran (Middleboro, Mass.) and senior Connor LaClair (Hyde Park, Vt.) finished first with a time of 3:33.43.
- Several Crusaders also recorded personal-best performances in Maine. Junior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) ran a personal-best time in the mile with a time of 4:19.11. Mario Alvarez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) also posted a personal-best time in the 55, with a time of 6.90 seconds. Senior Chris Bergan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) ran a personal-best performance in the 3,000 with a time of 8:48.12.
