Track & Field Competes In First Day Of Patriot League Championship

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) qualified for the finals in the 100 and 200 dashes as the Holy Cross men's and women's track and field teams competed in the first day of competition at the Patriot League Outdoor Championship in Lewisburg, Pa. on Friday afternoon.

Reid led the field with the day's top times in the 100 and 200. In the 100 she qualified for finals and hit an ECAC qualifying mark with a time of 11.89 seconds, just off her school record time of 11.84 seconds. In the 200 Reid finished with an ECAC qualifying time of 24.63 seconds, narrowly missing her school record time of 24.26 seconds. Joining Reid in the finals for both events is junior M. Siobhan Straub (Mattituck, N.Y.) with a qualifying time of 12.61 seconds in the 100 and 26.13 seconds in the 200. The women's 100 final is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the 200 final is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sophomore Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.) qualified for the finals in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.90 seconds, less than half a second off the school record. Linnehan's race is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Senior Chantal Couture (Taunton, Mass.) scored the first Holy Cross points of the day in the javelin. Couture placed fifth with a throw of 39.68 meters. Senior Timothy Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) placed fourth in the 10,000 with a time of 32:17.65 to score the men's team's first points of the Championship. The women's 4x800 relay team, ran by sophomore Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.), senior Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.), junior Courtney Burgess (Dracut, Mass.) and junior Cassandra Anderson (Saugus, Mass.), placed third with an ECAC qualifying time of 9:03.26.

Holy Cross will continue action at the Patriot League Championship tomorrow, May 1. Multi-events start at 9:00 a.m., while field events and track events are scheduled to start at 11:15 a.m.
