TROY, N.Y. – Senior Nicholas LeBlanc (New Bedford, Mass.) placed first in the shot put to lead the Holy Cross men’s track and field team at the RPI Early Outdoor Invitational Saturday afternoon. LeBlanc took first with a distance of 13.40 meters. Junior Kenneth McKenna (Ossining, N.Y.) placed third in the event with a distance of 12.56 meters.
McKenna also led the Crusaders with a third place finish in the discus with a distance of 35.88 meters. LeBlanc placed fifth with a distance of 33.18 meters. In the javelin, sophomore Henry Bradford (West Bridgewater, Mass.) placed third with a distance of 46.88 meters. Sophomore Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.) took third in the long jump with a distance of 6.19 meters and placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 13.14 meters.
On the track, sophomore Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) led the Crusaders with a second place finish in the 5,000, finishing with a time of 15:12.67. Senior Brendan Medeiros (Fall River, Mass.) placed third in the 3,000 steeple chase with a time of 10:02.83, junior Connor LaClair (Hyde Park, Vt.) placed ninth in the 400 with a time of 52.12 seconds and sophomore Stephen Madsen (New Providence, N.J.) took fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:02.71.
Holy Cross travels to New Hampshire next weekend, April 3, for a meet against the Wildcats. Race time is set for 11:00 a.m.
