Crusaders Ready To Race At Maine Open

  • The Holy Cross men's track and field team will travel to Orono, Maine on Saturday, Feb. 6 for the Maine Open at the UMaine Field House. Last season the Crusaders finished third at the Open, falling to Maine and Central Connecticut State.
  • At last year's Open, the Crusaders were led on the track by senior Timothy Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) with a second place finish in the 3,000 with a time of 8:46.82. In the field events, junior Kenneth McKenna (Ossining, N.Y.) took second in the weight throw with a distance of 13.51 meters.
  • At the Boston Indoor games, Richard qualified for the New England Championship in the 5,000 with a time of 14:52.98. Richard's time was four seconds faster than last year's and was the eighth fastest in the Patriot League this season.
  • Senior Kyle Rougeot (Torrington, Conn.) has been slowly making his return to competition on the track. Last weekend, Rougeot, who was sidelined by an injury this fall, placed 10th in the 5,000 with a time of 15:21.17. Last season, Rougeot finished eighth in the 5,000 at the Patriot League Indoor Championship with a time of 14:51.89.
