Crusaders Return To Action This Weekend

  • The Holy Cross men's track and field team will return to team competition on Saturday, Jan. 9 with members of the team participating in the Yale Invitational and the Crowell Invitational.
  • At last year's Yale Invitational, Holy Cross was one of more than 10 teams that competed in the 27th Yale Intercollegiate Track Classic. The Crusaders were led by sophomore Stephen Madsen's (New Providence, N.J.) 16th place finish in the one mile run with a time of 4:38.96, while junior James Fletcher (Woburn, Mass.) took 18th with a time of 4:40.24.  
  • Over the holidays, individual members of the team competed at the Boston University miniseries. Over three consecutive weekends, BU hosted races in the 200, one mile, 400, 800 and 3,000 meter run. Senior A.J. Malloy (Dunbarton, N.H.) competed in the 200 twice, recording his fastest time of 23.54 seconds on Dec. 19.  Sophomore Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.) also competed in the 200 at two of the mini meets, recording his fastest time of 24.83 on Dec. 19.
  • Rookies John Veltri (West Milford, N.J.), Kevin Wall (Winchester, Mass.) and Charlie Cunningham (Reading, Mass.) competed in the miniseries. Veltri finished the 400 with a time of 52.85 seconds, Wall recorded a time of 24.78 seconds in the 200 and Cunningham finished with a time of 53.62 seconds in the 400.
