- The Holy Cross men's track and field team will open the 2009-2010 indoor season on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Alden Invitational in Providence, R.I., hosted by Brown.
- At last year's season opener at Brown, junior Kenneth McKenna (Ossining, N.Y.) took fourth in the shot put with a distance of 41'02.50", while in the long jump, junior Gregory Liguori (Norwood, N.J.) finished fifth with a jump of 18'07.25".
- The Crusaders return 20 from last year's squad, including captains Chase Kennedy (Marblehead, Mass.), Kyle Rougeot (Torrington, Conn.) and Tim Richard (Attleboro, Mass.). Kennedy returns to lead the sprinters, while Rougeot and Richard will lead the distance team. In the 2008-2009 indoor season, Rougeot finished eighth in the 5,000 meter run at the Patriot League Indoor Championship with a time of 14:51.89, while Richard took 10th with a time of 14:54.56. Kennedy placed 13th in the 400 at the Championship with a time of 51.71 seconds.
- Jim Kavanagh enters his 38th season in 2009-2010 as a coach at Holy Cross and 10th as the Richard L. Ahern '51 Director of Cross Country, Track and Field. In the 2008-2009 season, Kavanagh coached Brad Mish to Holy Cross' first New England Championship in the 5,000 meter indoor run and first championship since 1995. Mish also broke the Holy Cross marathon record that was set by Doug Wood in 1972.
