Crusaders Compete In Day Two Of IC4A Championship

PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior Stephen Mandravelis (Nashua, N.H.) placed 23rd in the hammer throw, as the Holy Cross men's and women's track and field teams took part in the second day of the 2009 ECAC and IC4A Championships, held at the William Weaver Track & Field Stadium. In the IC4A men's hammer throw, Mandravelis had a long toss of 53.77 meters. The Holy Cross men are currently in 22nd place with five points through nine events. The Crusader women stand in 26th place as a team with three points through eight events.

Senior Lesley Bautista (St. John's Newfoundland) tied her own school record in the pole vault, finishing in fifth place in the ECAC women's pole vault with a height of 3.75 meters

Junior Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) had a strong day for the Crusaders, placing 15th in the ECAC women's 200-meter dash in a time of 24.59 seconds, and 17th in the ECAC women's 100-meter dash with a time of 12.11 seconds. Reid also teamed with Bautista, sophomore M. Siobhan Straub (Mattituck, N.Y.) and sophomore Caitlin White (Miller Place, N.Y.) to place 20th in the ECAC women's 4x100-meter relay, finishing with a time of 47.91 seconds.

The team of sophomore Courtney Burgess (Dracut, Mass.), freshman Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.), junior Maureen Meagher (Allentown, Pa.) and freshman Alison Nadeau (Norfolk, Mass.) finished 13th in the ECAC women's 4x800-meter relay, recording a time of 9:03.87.

The ECAC and IC4A Championships conclude on Sunday, May 17.
