Crusader Tennis To Get Fall Season Under Way.

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's and women's tennis teams will begin their fall season this weekend in Newport, R.I. and Fairfield, Conn. Mike Lucas will lead both teams in his fourth season as head coach.

On the men's side, John Deaver (St. Louis, Mo.) and Colin Missett (Southington, Conn.) were named captains of a team that had a 3-4 start last year in fall season and finished 7-12 overall in 2004-2005. Katie Irwin (Franklin Lakes, N.J.), Meredith Bacon (Hanover, N.H.), and Kerry Trimmer (Spring Lake, N.J.) will lead the Crusader women as the captains for the 2005-2006 season. Last year, the women finished 2-5 in the fall season, taking fourth place at the New England Championships and were 6-13 overall.

The women will play Saturday, September 10th at the Fairfield Invitational in Fairfield, Conn. at 9:00 a.m. Also on Saturday, the men will begin at the Hall of Fame Invitational in Newport, R.I. and Sunday they will play in Fairfield. Both matches are also set for 9:00 a.m.
