Crusaders Compete At Salve Regina

Narraganset, R.I. - The Holy Cross men's tennis team played at Salve Regina on Saturday in the Salve Regina Doubles Invitational tournament. There were seven teams at the invitational and Holy Cross took fourth, finishing ahead of Wheaton, Johnson & Wales and Coast Guard. Salve Regina took first, Bryant was second and Stonehill came in third.
Sophomore John Burke and junior Angelo Sica started out the day playing Johnson and Wales where they outplayed them winning 8-3 in their first match at the tournament. They then went on to play Wheaton and won again 8-2. They dropped their third match to Stonehill 8-2 finishing the day 1-2.
Junior Brendan McElhenny and Senior Matthew Vicidomino went up against Salve Regina in their first match but dropped it 8-2. They then went on to play Coast Guard where they posted a 9-8 victory. They played again against Johnson and Wales and won 8-1 for their second victory. They finished their day 2-1.
Holy Cross will return to action tomorrow at the Fairfield Doubles Festival.
