EASTON, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's tennis team won two of the four doubles flights at the Stonehill Doubles Tournament held at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts, kicking off the fall season. Senior Ajeya Shekar (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and junior Scot Brownell (Plymouth, Mass.) won the C flight while senior Tim Regan (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and junior Jeff Paadre (Sutton, Mass.) won the D flight.
Shekar and Brownell topped Roger Williams and then took down two Stonehill teams, winning the championship round in three sets, 1-6, 6-1, 10-4. Regan and Paadre defeated Roger Williams to move on to the finals and then topped Endicott 8-3 for the Flight D championship. Senior Chris Das (Melrose, Mass.) and sophomore Chris Brosnan (Garden City, N.Y.) were bounced in the first round of the A flight but then rebounded to win the consolation bracket, topping Roger Williams and Stonehill's No. 2 team.
Holy Cross will play in the Nichols Tournament next, beginning Saturday, Sept. 17 at 9:30 a.m. The Crusaders will play the host team first and then match-up with Assumption at 12:30 p.m. All matched will be played in Dudley, Mass. on the Nichols Tennis Courts.
