Schedule: Fall season has concluded
- The Holy Cross men's tennis team wrapped up its fall season after the match against Boston University was cancelled for the second time on Friday, Oct. 23. The team ends with a 2-3 dual-match record, topping Hartford and Nichols while dropping matches to Coast Guard, Merrimack and Siena. Combined the team earned 15 match points while opponents tallied 23 points.
- Junior Matt Wierzel (Garden City, N.Y.) finished the fall slate with a 16-1 record at No. 1 singles, including a perfect 5-0 in dual-matches. He was named the Patriot League Tennis Player of the Month for the first time in program history. His accomplishments this season also earned him the AT &T Crusader of the Week accolade for the week of Sept. 14. This is the first time Wierzel has earned either honor in his three-year career.
- Sophomore Chris Das (Melrose, Mass.) also earned career-bests over the fall season. He ranks second on the team with a 6-2 record at No. 4 singles, having lost just one dual-match. Das has settled in well as the team's No. 4 singles player, having gone 1-0 at No. 4 singles, 2-5 at No. 5 and 4-6 at No. 6 last year. He is one singles win away from tying his seven total victories from 2008-2009.
- Two newcomers, sophomore Tim Regan (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and freshman Scot Brownell (Plymouth, Mass.) added additional depth for the team, going a combined 2-2 in match play. Regan earned his first collegiate victory as the No. 6 singles player against Hartford. Brownell saw his first action at the Stonehill Invitational, going 1-1 in competition.
