Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's and women's swimming and diving squads placed 18 student-athletes on the 2005 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by league officials today. Juniors Whitney Schmitt (Norwell, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) and Allison Yoho (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) were among just five female swimming and diving student-athletes to earn 4.0 grade point averages during the Spring semester. A total of 95 student-athletes were named to this year's women's honor roll, while 76 were named to the men's academic honor roll.
In addition to Schmitt and Yoho, representing the Holy Cross women's team are senior Abby Lemieux (Brunswick, Maine), junior Colleen Connors (Dedham, Mass./Dedham), sophomore Aislinn Kelly (Sandwich, Mass.) and freshmen Erica Archer (Schenectady, N.Y./Niskayuna), Carolyn Cody (Andover, Mass./Andover), Andrea Doherty (Needham, Mass./Needham), Emily Meyer (Leawood, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) and Rachel Quaden (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford).
Representing the men's team are seniors Jason Gintert (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Park Academy) and Ryan Keating (Winter Park, Fla./Lake Highland Prep), juniors Hugh Hayden (Lincolnshire, Ill./Loyola Academy) and Matt Talucci (Cherry Hill, N.J./St. Joseph Prep), sophomores Matt Frigault (East Freetown, Mass./Apponequet) and Kevin Mullaney (Livingston, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) and freshmen Todd Chen (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) and Francis Sweeney (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Joseph Prep).
To be eligible for the PL Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the League's six winter or 10 spring championship sports.
