Men's Swimming & Diving Places 14 On Honor Roll

WORCESTER, Mass. - Fourteen members of the Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team have been selected to the 2008 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office, including senior Chris Smith (West Haven, Conn.), junior Brian Hendrickson (West Hartford, Conn.) and freshman Matt Mullaney (Livingston, N.J.) who each earned perfect 4.0 grade-point averages in the spring semester. They were three of just nine members of the men's swimming and diving honor roll to record a 4.0. Holy Cross' 14 selections were the third most in the league.
The other members of the team to be named to the honor roll were senior Shannon Sweeney (Philadelphia, Pa.); juniors Rob Acker (Ames, Iowa), Ian MacLaren (Cortez, Colo.), Sean O'Reilly (Bronx, N.Y.) and John Ringwood (Cheshire, Conn.); sophomores Michael Dougher (Amherst, N.Y.), Joseph McShane (Chatham, N.J.), Stefan Opolski (Haverhill, Mass.) and Michael Ragone (New Rochelle, N.Y.); and freshmen Matthew Hynes (Maywood, N.J.) and Aidan McGrath (Quincy, Mass.).
A total of 86 student-athletes from men's swimming and diving teams around the league were named to the honor roll. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the 16 League-sponsored winter or spring championship sports.
