ST. CROIX, Virgin Islands - Thirty-three members of the Holy Cross men's and women's swimming and diving team, along with head coach Barry Parenteau, participated in the fifth Annual St. Croix Dolphins one mile Sea Swim on Sunday Jan. 4th. The race was held in the U.S. Virgin Islands and started with competitors jumping off the Frederiksted Pier and finishing at Rainbow Beach.
One hundred and thirty-eight competitors participated in the race. Junior Ryan Boate (Pleasantville, N.Y.) led the Crusaders with a sixth place finish in the male 18-25 division with a time of 23:18, while junior Joseph McShane (Chatham, N.J.) took ninth in 24:17 and sophomore Aidan McGrath (Quincy, Mass.) finished in 10th place in 24:22. Top female finishers for Holy Cross in the 18-25 division included freshman Annie O'Shea (Washington, D.C.) in fourth place with a time of 24:16 and freshman Maggie Beaudouin (Madison, N.J.) in seventh place with a time of 25:07. Head coach Barry Parenteau took first place in the male 50 plus no fins category with a time of 31:03.
The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team returns home to the Hart Center on Sunday, Jan. 11 when it hosts Central Connecticut and Vermont at 1:00 p.m. The men's swimming and diving team travels to Boston University on Jan. 13 for a 7:00 p.m. start.
