LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman Adam DeVito (Walpole, Mass.) led the Holy Cross swimming and diving teams with a fifth place finish in the three meter diving competition at the first day of the three day Patriot League Championships in Lewisburg, Pa. The men's team closed out the first day in eighth place with 39 points, while the women's team is in seventh with 46 points.
DeVito was the leading Holy Cross point scorer, as he took fifth on the three meter board with a score of 264.36. The men's 200 free relay team swam by senior Rob Acker (Ames, Iowa), senior David Drummond (Swampscott, Mass.), senior Dan Kennedy (Bolton, Conn.) and freshman Patrick McMahon (Middletown, N.Y.) finished seventh with a season-best time of 1:29.44.
The women's team was led by a seventh place finish in the 400 medley relay, swam by sophomore Gael Carter (Tampa, Fla.), junior Maggie Gousman (Fanwood, N.J.), freshman Annie O'Shea (Washington, D.C.) and junior Alisha Carrazza (Boonton Township, N.J.) with a season-best time of 4:02.11. The 200 free relay, swam by Carter, junior Lauren Tatro (Charlotte, N.C.), freshman Monica Cullen (Maplewood, N.J.) and freshman Maggie Beaudouin (Madison, N.J.) finished eighth with a time of 1:44.46.
Holy Cross continues competition at day two of the Patriot League Championships on Friday, Feb. 20 starting at 10:30 a.m.
