Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The men's swimming and diving team traveled to Boston College Tuesday, February 5 to compete in a head to head, non-conference meet. The Crusaders were defeated in a close meet by the Eagles 152-124 to end their regular season competition. Holy Cross took six first place finishes for the day.
Sophomore standout Joshua Rodriguez (Dudley, Mass.) took firsts in both diving events. In the one-meter dive he had a high score of 191.25 and in the three-meter dive had a high score of 137.25 to earn 18 points for the Crusaders.
Other first place finishes included senior Chris Smith (West Haven, Conn.) in the 500 free with a time of 5:05.09. In the 100 free Holy Cross took first thru third, leading them in first was sophomore Joseph McShane (Chatham, N.J.) with a time of 50.38. Holy Cross also swept the top three places in the 200 IM, junior James McCullough (Orefield, Pa.) taking first with a time of 2:12.55. The final first place finish was the 200 free relay with a time of 1:33.93. Apart of this team were sophomore Aaron Brosnan (Westford, Mass.), junior David Drummond (Swampscott, Mass.), junior Ian MacLaren (Cortez, Colo.) and Smith.
The Crusaders compete again in the Patriot League Championship February 21 at Annapolis, Md. Start time is set for 10:00 a.m.
