SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore Tyler Wright (Waterboro, Maine) led the team with two first place finishes as the Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team fell to Bryant on Saturday afternoon by a score of 157-102. Wright touched the wall first in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke with times of 54.01 and 55.48, respectively.
Senior Jan Yburan (Livingston, N.J.) also registered a first place finish in the 50 backstroke with a time of 25.46. Other top finishers for the Crusaders included senior Zachary Cietek (Guilderland, N.Y.) who finished third in the 1,000 free (10:43.27), sophomore David Mullany (Monroe, Conn.) who took third in the 200 free (1:53.09), junior Jack Swain (West Hartford, Conn.) who finished third in the 50 breaststroke (28.67) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.08) and Yburan who touched the wall third in the 50 free (22.53).
The 400 medley relay team comprised of Yburan, Swain, Wright and Mullany took second with a time of 3:41.91 while the 400 freestyle relay team of freshman Alexander Young (Natick, Mass.), senior Patrick Gibbons (Reston, Va.), Mullany and Yburan also finished second at 3:24.43.
The men's swimming and diving team will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Patriot League Championship. The meet is scheduled to span four days from Feb. 19-22 at Navy.
