ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team completed day one of competition Thursday at the Patriot League Championship in Annapolis, Md., hosted by Navy. Sophomore Jan Yburan (Livingston, N.J.) finished 27th in the 50 yard freestyle preliminary with a time of 22.01 to lead the Crusaders. Junior John Vatalaro (Strongsville, Ohio) finished 31st behind Yburan with a time of 22.70.
Other top preliminary Crusader finishes included junior Brian Power (Southport, Conn.) who took 29th in the 200 yard IM finishing at 1:58.44 and junior Brian Lyons (Greenwich, Conn.) who finished 30th in the 500 yard freestyle with at time of 4:51.58. Sophomore Kevin O'Connor (Ridgewood, N.J.) finished close behind Lyons in 34th with a time of 5:05.05.
Sophomore Nick Videtti (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) led Holy Cross in the one-meter dive finishing 12th with a score of 215.80. In the relays, the 400 yard medley relay team finished seventh with a time of 3:36.62 while the 200 yard freestyle relay team finished eighth at 1:29.45.
Navy is atop the leader board after one day of competition with 275 points. The second day of competition at the Patriot League Championship begins tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 17, with the preliminary heats beginning at 10:00 a.m.
