MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING

Sunday, Oct. 9 vs. Lehigh, Worcester, Mass., 1:00 p.m.
- The Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team will kick off the 2011-2012 season with two meets this week. On Saturday, Oct. 8, Holy Cross will start the season with a meet at Fairfield and then on Sunday, Oct. 9, the Crusaders will host Lehigh in Patriot League action at the Hart Center.
- Head coach Barry Parenteau returns 15 members from a year ago. Holy Cross also welcomes nine newcomers to the team. The 2011 freshman class consists of Michael Brower (Falling Waters, W.Va.), Brendan Higgins (Summit, N.J.), Richard Horigan (West Hartford, Conn.), Walker Lahr (Monticello, Minn.), Alec McCabe (Agoura Hills, Calif.), Jake McLaughlin (Erie, Pa.), Michael Noone (Stamford, Conn.), Andrew Olivieri (Newark, Del.) and Jack Swain (West Hartford, Conn.). Seniors Michael Burns (East Amherst N.Y.) and Patrick McMahon (Middletown, N.Y.) will serve as captains for the 2011-2012 season.
- Parenteau enters his 37th season as coach of the Holy Cross swimming and diving programs. Parenteau has coached the Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team since its inception in 1975 and took over the head coaching responsibilities for the men's team in 1996.
- A year ago, the Crusaders opened the season with a home meets against both Fairfield and Lehigh. The Crusaders fell to Fairfield 154-143 and then lost to Lehigh 149-89.
