LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Brian Power (Southport, Conn.) broke his second school record of the meet on Saturday as the Holy Cross men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up competition at the Patriot League Championship in Lewisburg, Pa. Colgate won the women's team competition with 862 points, Navy took second with 760, Bucknell finished third with 581.5, American fourth with 332, Army fifth with 323.5, Lehigh sixth (230), Lafayette seventh (226) and Holy Cross eighth (144). Navy claimed the men's team title with 1,056 points, Army was second with 603.5, Bucknell third (566), Lehigh fourth (380), Colgate fifth (363), American sixth (201), Lafayette seventh (183.5) and Holy Cross eighth (130).
Power finished 15th in the final heat of the 200 breast with a time of 2:08.25, breaking the school record in the preliminaries with a time of 2:07.34. Sophomore Brian Lyons (Greenwich, Conn.) finished 14th in the 1650 with a time of 16:53.52, while freshman Jan Yburan (Livingston, N.J.) narrowly missed a school record mark in the 200 back, finishing with a time of 1:58.83 in the preliminary round of competition. The 400 free relay team of Yburan, senior Aidan McGrath (Quincy, Mass.), sophomore John Vatalaro (Strongsville, Ohio) and Lyons finished eighth with a time of 3:17.79.
The women's 400 free relay team of sophomore Kristen Desrosiers (Gorham, Maine), junior Maggie Beaudouin (Madison, N.J.), sophomore Gina Mannix (Larchmont, N.Y.) and senior Gael Carter (Tampa, Fla.) finished seventh with a time of 3:36.12. Carter just missed hitting her fourth school record of the meet, finishing with a time of 2:08.39 in the preliminary round of the 200 back, three-one hundredths off of the school record time. Junior Annie O'Shea (Washington, D.C.) placed 14th in the 200 fly with a time of 2:10.66, while senior Sarah Kearns (Marion, Mass.) finished 13th in the three meter diving competition with a score of 194.10.
Holy Cross has concluded the 2010-2011 season.
