KINGSTON, R.I. – The Holy Cross men's and women's swimming and diving team traveled to Kingston, R.I. on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 3-4 for the Harold Anderson Invitational. The men's team finished sixth overall, with Providence College taking home the team title. The women's team also finished sixth, with host Rhode Island winning the team title.
Junior Annie O'Shea (Washington, D.C.) led the Crusaders with a third place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 2:11.79 and placed fifth in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.68. Junior Lindsay Mlazgar (Bloomington, Minn.) led the team in the diving competition with a third place finish on the three meter diving board with 181.65 points and a sixth place finish in the one meter competition with a score of 176.55. Junior Maggie Beaudouin (Madison, N.J.) finished sixth in the 1,000 with a time of 11:08.92 and sophomore Kristen Desrosiers (Gorham, Maine) placed ninth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:18.30. Senior Erin Meegan (Woodbine, Md.) finished eighth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:58.23.
The men's team was led by sophomore Brian Power (Southport, Conn.) with a fourth place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:16.50 and a fourth place finish by freshman Nick Videtti (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) in the three meter diving competition with a score of 162.75. Power finished fifth in the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.10. Freshman Kevin O'Connor (Ridgewood, N.J.) finished eighth in the 1,000 with a time of 10:36.47 and took 10th in the 500 with a time of 5:03.29. Freshman Jan Yburan (Livingston, N.J.) finished seventh in the 200 back with a time of 2:04.86 and 10th in the 100 back with a time of 57.66.
Holy Cross will take a break from competition until after the New Year, returning to the pool for the Worcester City Championship on Jan. 21-22 at the Hart Center.
