Worcester, Mass – Ten members of the Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team were selected to the 2010 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as a result of their achievement in the classroom. Of the 10, junior economics majors Matthew Hynes (Maywood, N.J.) and Matt Mullaney (Livingston, N.J.), along with senior political science major Joseph McShane (Chatham, N.J.) marked perfect 4.0 grade point averages in the spring semester.
Senior Stefan Opolski (Haverhill, Mass.) was named to the honor roll for the fourth time, while senior Michael Ragone (New Rochelle, N.Y.) earned his third honor. Junior Sean Hager (Westfield, N.J.) and sophomore Michael Burns (East Amherst, N.Y.) each made the honor roll for the second time. Senior Aaron Brosnan (Westford, Mass.), and freshmen Brian Power (Southport, Conn.) and John Vatalaro (Strongsville, Ohio) were named to the honor roll for the first time.
Ten men's swimming and diving student-athletes earned a 4.00 grade point average or higher for the spring term. Four of those students came from Navy, with three from both Holy Cross and Lafayette. Lafayette led all Patriot League schools with 17 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll. Bucknell and Navy each added 15 to the list while American followed with 14 selections. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League sponsored winter or spring championship sports.
