Men’s Swimming & Diving Takes Second At Worcester City Championship

WORCESTER, Mass. - Seven members of the Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team took first in an individual event at the Worcester City Championship, as the Crusaders finished second out of three teams. WPI took first with 367 points, Holy Cross finished second with 348 and Clark took third with 342.

Senior Ryan Boate (Pleasantville, N.Y.) took home the first top finish for Holy Cross in the 1650 with a time of 18:04.97, while junior Sean Hager (Westfield, N.J.) finished first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:36.44. Senior Joseph McShane (Chatham, N.J..) touched the wall first in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.21 and sophomore Michael Burns (East Amherst N.Y.) finished first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:04.73. Rookies Brian Power (Southport, Conn.) and Brian Lyons (Greenwich, Conn.) each claimed their first WCC title, Power in the 200 breast with a time of 2:20.34 and Lyons in the 500 free with a time of 5:06.66. Holy Cross was led on the diving boards by a top finish by senior Joshua Rodriguez (Dudley, Mass.). Rodriguez took first on the three meter board with a score of 229.45.

Holy Cross will continue action at the Hart Center on Jan. 30 when it hosts Providence at 1:00 p.m.
