Center Valley, Pa. - Junior captain Josh Trott (Glen Cove, N.Y.) was named to the 2005 Patriot League Men's Soccer All-League First Team and senior defender Kevin Leonard (Unionville, Conn.) was named to the All-League Second Team, as announced by conference officials this morning. This is the second league award for both players. Last season, Trott was a First Team pick, while Leonard was selected to the Second Team.
Trott started all 15 of the games he played in this year and finished the season tied for first in the Patriot League in total points (20 points) and goals (nine goals). He also led the team in both of those categories.
An All-Region and All-New England selection last season, Trott also ranked second in the conference in points per game (1.33 points per game) and goals per game (0.60 goals per game) across all games this season.
A BRINE Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 13) pick earlier this year, the New York native ended the season tied for 16th with four points (two goals) in conference action (Patriot League games only).
A Second Team All-Patriot League selection a year ago, Leonard has once again been the backbone of the Holy Cross defense all season long. This year he helped the team to five shutouts and has been a major part in the 23 shutouts Holy Cross has posted over the course of his career. Leonard started 46 of the 49 career games he played in and recorded one goal and four assists for six total points.
Holy Cross ended the 2005 campaign with an 8-8 overall record and a 2-5 mark in league play. The Crusaders finished the season with a .500 or better record for the second consecutive season, and the fourth in the last five years.
