Jon Werth Named Crusader Of The Week

Sept. 24, 2007

WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman midfielder Jon Werth (University Park, Md.) has been named the GoHolyCross.com Crusader of the Week, for competition from September 17-23. Werth helped lead the Holy Cross men's soccer team to a pair of victories over Northeastern (1-0) and Siena (3-0) last week.

In Saturday's win at Siena, Werth scored the game-winning goal with 31:39 left in the second half when his direct shot found the top left corner of the net, putting Holy Cross in front 1-0. Less than 10 minutes later, he picked up an assist when freshman forward Kyle Miller (Woodbury, N.J.) headed his pass into the goal to give the Crusaders a 2-0 advantage.

In six games played this season, Werth is now tied for fourth on the team in scoring with four points on a goal and two asssits.

Holy Cross (4-2 overall) returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 25, when it travels to New Hampshire for a 3:00 p.m. game.
