Men's Soccer To Open Patriot League Play On Saturday

MEN'S SOCCER The men's soccer team will head out on a two-game road trip, traveling to Colgate on Saturday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m.
and then to Quinnipiac on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 4:00 p.m. The game against Colgate marks the Crusaders first Patriot League
contest of the season.
Holy Cross posted its fourth win and second tie of the season, now with a record of 4-1-2. The Crusaders defeated Florida
Gulf Coast, 2-0, on Friday, Sept. 19. And recorded a 1-1 tie in double overtime with Florida International.
Sophomore midfielder Jon Werth (University Park, Md.) led the Crusaders in scoring with a goal in each game this past
weekend. Werth has two goals and one assist, ranking him second on the team in points (five).
Senior defender Alejandro Melean (Miami, Fla.) also performed well this weekend, picking up an assist in both games.
Melean leads the team in points (six) and assists (four).
Junior goalkeeper Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) has been outstanding weekend as he picked up his fourth win of the
season and third shutout with the victory over Florida Gulf. He also tallied 12 saves, including a season-high seven saves
against FGC. Allowing just one goal in the weekend series, Booth has given up a mere five goals so far in the Patriot
League. He also leads the Patriot League in goals against average (0.68) and save percentage (.833) as well being tied in
shutouts per game (0.43).
Werth has been named the Patriot League Brine Offensive Player of the Week and Booth has been named Patriot League
BRINE Goalkeeper of the Week in men's soccer for competition from September 15-21, during which the Crusaders posted a
1-0-1 record. These are Werth and Booth's first career Patriot League Players of the Week honors.
