Werth and Booth Receive Patriot League Weekly Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross sophomore midfielder Jon Werth (University Park, Md.) has been named the Patriot League Brine Offensive Player of the Week and junior goalkeeper Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) has been named Patriot League BRINE Goalkeeper of the Week in men's soccer for competition from September 15-21, during which the Crusaders posted a 1-0-1 record. Holy Cross defeated Florida Gulf Coast, 2-0, on Friday and tied Florida International, 1-1, in double overtime. These are Werth and Booth's first career Patriot League Players of the Week honors.

Werth scored his first goal in the 39th minute of the game against Florida Gulf Coast. He picked up his second goal of the weekend versus FIU three minutes into the second half, after receiving a pass inside the 18-yard box and in the bottom right corner of the goal.

Booth made 12 saves and allowed just one goal during the weekend, including a shutout against FGC and Florida International. Booth had a season-high seven saves against Florida Gulf Coast and five versus FIU. He currently leads the Patriot League in goals against average (0.68) and save percentage (.833) and is tied for first in shutouts with three.

The men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, September 27, as they travel to Colgate for a Patriot League game scheduled at 7:00 p.m.
