WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross senior defender Jerry Dickinson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has been named the Patriot League BRINE men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week for competition from September 8-14, which the Crusaders posted a 2-0 record. Holy Cross defeated Sacred Heart, 1-0, Tuesday night and Dickinson rallied the Crusaders to 3-2 victory against Northeastern with two unassisted goals Saturday night. This is the first defensive Patriot League award in Dickinson's career.
Northeastern took a 2-1 lead with at 72:14, but Dickinson quickly answered back just over two minutes later with a header into the net after a scramble inside the box. Dickinson struck again for Holy Cross with 7:44 left in the game as he managed to get a clear shot into the left corner after a scrum broke out in front of the Northeastern goal, leading the Crusaders to their third season win.
The men's soccer team returns to action on Friday, September 19, as they travel to Florida Gulf Coast for a game scheduled at 7:00 p.m.
