Men's Soccer Picked Second In Patriot League Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's soccer team has been picked to finish second in the 2008 Patriot League preseason poll as voted upon by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Last year's Patriot League tournament champions, Colgate, has been picked to finish first with 13 first-place votes and 94 overall points. Holy Cross had one first-place vote and 76 points as it was picked to finish second, followed by Bucknell (62 points, one first-place vote), Lafayette (61 points), Lehigh (59 points), American (46 points), Army (29 points, one first-place vote) and Navy (21 points).
The Crusaders are set to kick off the 2008 season when they host No. 13 Massachusetts at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium on Friday, August 29, at 7:00 p.m. Last season's regular season Patriot League champions, Holy Cross posted an overall record of 8-6-4 and 4-0-3 in league play. The Crusaders return 22 letterwinners and welcome six freshmen to the program.
