Holy Cross Men's Soccer Picked Seventh In Patriot League

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's soccer team has been picked to finish seventh in the 2006 Patriot League preseason poll, as voted by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors. Lafayette finished first in the poll with 92 total points and 11 first place votes, followed by the American with 86 points and four first place votes. Lehigh (72 points, one first place vote), Colgate (58 points), Navy (53 points), Bucknell (43 points), Holy Cross (26 points) and Army (18 points) rounded out the voting.
Holy Cross is coming off a 2005 season in which it went 8-8 overall and placed seventh in the Patriot League with a 2-5 mark in conference games. The Crusaders return five starters and 13 letterwinners from that squad, including the top four scorers on the team.
Holy Cross will open the 2006 season on Sunday, August 27, when it travels to Quinnipiac for a 12:00 p.m. game. Patriot League play will begin on Saturday, September 16, when the Crusaders play host to Bucknell at 3:00 p.m.
