WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr. and head men's soccer coach Elvis Comrie have announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2008 season. Holy Cross is scheduled to play a total of 17 games this season, including eight contests at home at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium and six games against teams which advanced to the 2007 NCAA Tournament (Boston College, Central Connecticut, Colgate, Harvard, Massachusetts and Providence).
The Crusaders will open the season at home with a game against 2007 NCAA Tournament national semifinalist Massachusetts (Aug. 29), followed by home matches with Central Connecticut (Sept. 2) and Providence (Sept. 6). After an away game at Sacred Heart (Sept. 9), the Crusaders will host Northeastern (Sept. 13). Holy Cross will then conclude the month of September with four straight road games at Florida Gulf Coast (Sept. 19), Florida International (Sept. 21), Colgate (Sept. 27) and Quinnipiac (Sept. 30).
Holy Cross opens the month of October with a home game against Bucknell (Oct. 4) and an away match at Lehigh (Oct. 11). The Crusaders conclude the regular season with home contests versus Navy (Oct. 18) and Harvard (Oct. 21); away games at American (Oct. 25) and Boston College (Oct. 28); a home game against Army (Nov. 1); and an away match at Lafayette (Nov. 8).
The Patriot League Tournament is set for Nov. 14-16, on the campus of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will take part in the tournament.
