Center Valley, Pa. - Five Holy Cross men's soccer players were named to the 2005 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by league officials this afternoon. A total of 57 student-athletes across the conference were named to the Fall academic team for men's soccer.
Junior back Andrew Thompson (Avon, Conn.) led the Crusaders with a 3.53 grade point average during the Fall semester. Other players representing Holy Cross on the academic honor roll were freshman forward Felipe Castrillon (Weston, Fla.), senior back Gamal Baker (Columbus, Ga.), and freshmen Keith Bauer (Commack, N.Y.) and Joseph Cherackel (Storrs, Conn.).
Holy Cross finished the 2005 campaign with an 8-8 overall record and a 2-5 mark in league play. The Crusaders had a .500 or better record for the second consecutive season, and the fourth in the last five years.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the seven League-sponsored fall championship sports.
