EASTON, Pa. - Senior Josh Trott (Glen Cove, N.Y.) scored on a penalty kick, but it was not enough as Lafayette scored two goals in the first half of the game to top Holy Cross 2-1 Saturday in Patriot League action.
The Leopards went ahead by two in the first half and held off the Crusaders for the greater part of the game. Trott was able to put Holy Cross within one a penalty kick at 84:50, but five minutes was not enough time for the Crusaders to retaliate.
Freshman Goalkeeper Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) had six saves for Holy Cross. Lafayette out shot the Crusaders, 13-9.
Holy Cross falls to 5-10 overall and 1-5 in the conference as Lafayette improves to 9-3-1 on the season and 4-1-1 in league play.
The Crusaders are back on the road Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. to face Hartford in non-conference action.
