WORCESTER, Mass. - New Hampshire came out on fire as it scored the first three goals of the game to defeat Holy Cross, 5-1, in men's soccer non-conference action Tuesday night at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. Junior Marsalis Beckford (Brantford, Ontario) scored the lone goal for the Crusaders off a pass from junior Chidie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) for his second goal of the season.
The Crusaders out shot the Wildcats 8-6 in the second half, but could not put one away. Senior Josh Trott (Glen Cove, N.Y.) led the Crusaders with six shots.
Holy Cross sophomore goalkeeper Keith Bauer (Commack, N.Y.) made three saves in the loss, while UNH goalie Brian Levey recorded his ninth win of the season after making four stops.
Holy Cross drops to 5-7 overall while UNH improves to 9-4-2 on the season.
The Crusaders return to Patriot League action when they host Army Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. It will also be Senior Night for the Crusaders.
