American Tops Holy Cross, 4-2

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Alex Cruz (Conyers, Ga.) scored two goals for Holy Cross, but it was not enough as American beat the Crusaders 4-2 in Patriot League action Saturday.
The Eagles scored two in the first half and kept the lead going into the second. Senior Cruz put the Crusaders on the board at 53:38 after a Chidie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) shot bounced off the crossbar. A minute later American scored a third goal to go ahead by two.
Cruz scored again at 59:36 off a cross from junior forward, Sefton Kincaid (Orlando, Fla.) to put Holy Cross within one. In the next 10 minutes the score remained 3-2. Then the Eagles put away one more goal to increase their lead and secure the 4-2 win.
Holy Cross had 15 shots while American had 14. Sophomore goalkeeper, Keith Bauer (Commack, N.Y.) had six saves for the Crusaders.
Holy Cross drops to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference while American improves to 4-7-2 on the season and 1-1-1 in the Patriot League.
The Crusaders host New Hampshire in non-conference action Tuesday at 7:00 p.m
