Men's Soccer Tops Bucknell, 2-1, In Double Overtime

WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore forward Kyle Miller (Woodbury, N.J.) scored the game-winning goal in the 107th minute as the Holy Cross men's soccer team outlasted Bucknell, 2-1, in Patriot League play on Saturday afternoon at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. With the victory, the Crusaders improve to 6-2-2 (2-0 Patriot League) while Bucknell falls to 4-5-3 (1-1 Patriot League).
Less than 10 minutes into the first half, at the 9:42 mark, Michael Blasius made a shot 20 yards out into the left corner of the Crusader net, giving the Bison a 1-0 lead.
With under 11 minutes left in regulation, at the 79:02 mark, sophomore midfielder Philippe Candido (Lowell, Mass.) headed the ball into the lower right corner of Bucknell's net, evening the score, 1-1, and pushing the game into overtime.
The Crusaders' game-winner came in the 107th minute, at the 106:18 mark, as senior Andreas Andrews (Los Angeles, Calif.) set up Miller's shot from the left side of the box as he put it into the left corner of the goal, lifting Holy Cross to a 2-1 win.
Junior goalkeeper Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) recorded five saves while Bucknell's goalkeeper Tommy Caso had nine saves.
Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, October 11, when it travels to Lehigh for a game scheduled at 7:00 p.m.
