Hamilton, N.Y. - Sophomore Matt Beckley (Congers, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal as the Holy Cross men's soccer team defeated Colgate, 1-0, in Patriot League play on Saturday at the Van Doren Field. With the win, the Crusaders improve to 5-1-2 on the season and 1-0 in the Patriot League, while the Raiders fall to 4-3-2 and 0-1 during league play.
With just under 28 minutes left in the game, at the 62:21 mark, Beckley scored the lone Holy Cross goal, notching his second goal of the season.
Crusader goalkeeper Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) recorded five saves and his fourth season shutout while Colgate's David Cappuccio made six stops.
Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, September 30, traveling to Quinnipiac for a game scheduled at 4:00 p.m.
