FORT MYERS, Fla. - Sophomores Kyle Miller (Woodbury, N.J.) and Jon Werth (University Park, Md.) each scored a goal as the Holy Cross men's soccer team defeated Florida Gulf Coast, 2-0, in non-conference action Friday night. With the win, the Crusaders improve to 4-1-1 while the Eagles fall to 1-4-1.
With just under seven minutes to go in the first half, at the 38:56, Werth gave Holy Cross a 1-0 lead, assisted by senior Alejandro Melean (Miami, Fla). Miller concluded the scoring for the Crusaders, with an unassisted goal closing out the first half, scoring his second goal of the season.
Junior goalkeeper Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) made five saves, picking up his third shutout of the season, while the Eagles' Adam Glick had four stops.
The men's soccer team returns to action on Sunday, September 21, as they travel to Florida International for a game scheduled at 12:00 p.m.
