Worcester, Mass. - Junior forward Josh Trott (Glen Cove, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Andreas Andrews (Los Angeles, Calif.) both scored second half goals to lead the Holy Cross men's soccer team to a 2-0 non-conference victory over the University at Albany on Sunday afternoon. Holy Cross has now won four straight and improves to 4-2 on the season, while Albany falls to 3-3-1.
Trott opened the scoring at the 62:08 mark on an unassisted effort and gave the Crusaders the only goal they would need after a scoreless first half of play. Andrews then tacked on an insurance goal in the 82nd minute after collecting the ball and dancing around Albany keeper Steward Ceus. Junior Andrew Lunney (San Diego, Calif.) set up the play for the Holy Cross goal.
Senior goalie Richard Whipple (Columbus, Ga.) made three saves on the day to record his fourth straight win of the season and his second shutout, while Ceus finished with eight stops for the Great Danes. The Crusaders enjoyed a 17-10 shot advantage.
The Crusaders travel to Northeastern University for a 3:00 p.m. game in Brookline, Mass., on Tuesday, September 20.
