Fairfield, Conn. - Jesper Fredriksson scored the game-winning goal almost seven minutes into the first overtime period for Sacred Heart as they defeated Holy Cross, 3-2, Tuesday at Sacred Heart.
The Crusaders lost control of the game with less than five minutes left as Brice Victor scored off a rebound to knot the game at two.
Holy Cross was not able to get a shot off in overtime while Sacred Heart had two. Fredriksson scored with a header off a cross to cut the 10 minute overtime to 6:43 and win the game.
Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) had six saves for Holy Cross on 14 shots in his first collegiate start in goal.
The Pioneers improve to 2-1-1 while the Crusaders drop to 3-2.
Holy Cross hosts Bucknell in its first Patriot League game of the season, Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
