Men's Soccer Edged By Sacred Heart, 2-1

WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman Kyle Miller (Woodbury, N.J.) scored first in the game, but Sacred Heart came back with two goals in the second half to give the Crusaders their first loss of the season, 2-1, in a non-conference match.
The freshman forward carried the ball up from midfield, scoring an unassisted goal on an open net. Eight minutes in, the Crusaders held a 1-0 lead over Sacred Heart.
Holding the Pioneers scoreless for the remainder of the first half, Jesper Frediksson (Gothenburg, Sweden) evened the score on a free kick just 3:55 into the second half. With 15:08 left in the game, Brian Downs (Jefferson, N.J.) scored the game-winning goal for Sacred Heart after getting the ball off a corner kick from Ricarti Mendes (Campinas, Brazil.
The Crusaders' Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) made four saves while Sacred Heart's Matt Jones (Stoke-on-Trent, England) had two stops.
Holy Cross drops to 2-1 while the Pioneers improved to 3-2.
The men's soccer team travels to Providence Saturday September, 15 for their next game at 2:00 p.m.
