Men’s Soccer Announces 2014 Schedule

WORCESTER, Mass. Holy Cross Director of Athletics Nathan Pine and head men's soccer coach Marco Koolman have announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2014 season. Holy Cross is scheduled to play a total of 18 games during the regular season, including eight at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.

The Crusaders open the 2014 season against Hartford on Aug. 29 at home. The Crusaders will then travel to 2013 NCAA Tournament participant Providence (Sept. 5) and Monmouth (Sept. 13). Holy Cross will play at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium against 2013 NCAA Tournament participant Quinnipiac on Sept. 17. On Sept. 20., the Crusaders will travel to Sacred Heart, and then return home for a game against Dartmouth (Sept. 23) and open Patriot League play versus Loyola (Md.) (Sept. 27).

The Crusaders will follow an away game at Northeastern (Oct. 1) with three conference games at American (Oct. 4), at home against Boston University (Oct. 8) and at Lafayette (Oct. 11). On Oct. 15, Holy Cross will travel to Harvard for non-conference play. The Crusaders will then host Colgate on Oct. 18. Their next matchup will be on the campus of the 2013 Patriot League champions Navy on Oct. 25 and then away at Army (Oct. 29). The Crusaders will conclude their regular season with two conference home games against Bucknell (Nov. 1) and Lehigh (Nov. 8).

The top six teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the Patriot League Tournament. The No. 3 seed will face the No. 6 seed, and the No. 4 seed will face the No. 5 seed in the quarterfinals on Nov. 11 with the higher seed hosting each game. The tournament will then be re-seeded after the quarterfinals. The No. 1 seed will host the semifinals on Nov. 14 and the championship game on Nov. 16.

Last season, the Crusaders went 9-9-2 overall, 6-3 in the Patriot League and made an appearance in the Patriot League championship game for the first time since 2008. The Crusaders' six Patriot League wins tied for their most ever.
