WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Wright (McKinney, Texas) has been named the GoHolyCross.com Crusader of the Week, for competition from November 11-17. Wright helped lead the Holy Cross men's soccer team to a runner-up finish in the Patriot League Tournament last week.
During Tuesday's 3-0 victory over Colgate in the Patriot League quarterfinals, Wright made a career-best nine saves while posting his third shutout of the season. In Friday's 1-1 double overtime tie against Army in the semifinals, he allowed only one goal while making four saves. Then in the shootout against the Black Knights, with the score tied at 3-3, Wright made a huge save setting up the winning goal as the Crusaders advanced, 4-3. In Sunday's 2-0 loss to Navy in the championship game, he made six more saves. Over the course of the three games, Wright posted a 0.93 goals against average with 19 saves.
On the season, he posted a 9-7-2 record with a 1.22 goals against average and 93 saves. Over the course of his collegiate career, Wright stands 13-12-4 with a 1.26 goals against average and 139 saves.
Holy Cross finished the 2013 season with an overall record of 9-9-2, while placing third in the Patriot League with a 6-3-0 mark in the regular season.
