Crusaders To Host American On Oct. 5

  • The Holy Cross men's soccer team (3-4-1, 1-0-0 Patriot League) will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5, when it hosts Patriot League opponent American at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium at 7:00 p.m. The Eagles are also 1-0-0 in the Patriot League as they defeated Lehigh, 2-0, on Sept. 28. American, who are the defending Patriot League regular season champions, are 3-3-2 overall this season. The Crusaders are 2-2-1 versus American in the last five meetings.
  • Senior captain Dane Kenny (Williston Park, N.Y.) scored his first career goal in the 2-1 win at Loyola (Md.) on Sept. 28. The goal gave the Crusaders a 1-0 lead in the second half.
  • Senior Tommy Uttaro (Staten Island, N.Y.) is second on the team with two goals and is tied for second with five points. He netted the game-winner versus Loyola (Md.) which was his third career game-winning goal. His two goals are tied for 10th in the Patriot League. For his career, he has seven goals and seven assists for 21 points.  
  • Freshman Joey DeVivo (Ridgefield, Conn.) leads the team with four goals and eight points this season. His 1.00 points per game are tied for sixth in the Patriot League, while his 0.50 goals per game are tied for fourth in the Patriot League and his four total goals are 48th nationally.
  • Senior captain Monty Sanders (Temecula, Calif.) leads the team with a career-best three assists and is tied for second with five points. His 0.38 assists per game are tied for fourth in the Patriot League and his three total assists are 70th nationally. For his career he has eight goals and five assists for 21 points.
  • Sophomore goalie Kevin Wright (McKinney, Texas) is tied for first in the Patriot League and 35th in the nation with an average of 4.71 saves per game.
