Men's Soccer Ready For Some Home Cooking This Week

  • The Holy Cross men's soccer team returns home for two games this week after traveling for the last five contests. The squad will first host Northeastern on Tuesday, Sept. 27 starting at 7:00 p.m. The team then welcomes Patriot League opponent Lafayette for a 3:00 p.m. game. Both contests will be played at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.
  • The Crusaders and Huskies have met 19 times in program history, with Northeastern holding a 13-5-1 edge in the series. Holy Cross earned its fifth victory over Northeastern on Sept. 15, 2009 and is on a four-game win streak, dating back to Sept. 19, 2006. The Crusaders won the last battle at home, 3-2 in 2008. Currently Northeastern stands at 5-1-1 on the season and is 2-1-1 when playing on the road.
  • Holy Cross and Lafayette will battle for respective first wins in Patriot League play as the Leopards tied Navy in their first match-up over the weekend. The teams have met a total of 28 times in program history, with the Leopards owning a 20-4-4 lead through all games. Holy Cross is 0-4-2 over the last five seasons of action against Lafayette and has not won since 2001. Currently, Lafayette stands at 4-2-2 on the season but has gone 1-2-1 when playing on the road.
  • Junior Pat McCann (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), who recorded his second career assist of the season two weeks ago, broke through for his first career goal against Army this past week. McCann becomes the fifth player to score for Holy Cross this season and now ranks second on the team with three points.
